THERE IS NO MORE HOPE FOR JUSTICE IN THE CURRENT SYSTEM
Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) would like to express our disappointment that former RMAF sergeant N Tharmendran had to retract his bail in order to protect himself from RMAF officers who were waiting outside the courtroom to harm him while a laptop belonging to senior counsel Manjeet Singh Dhillion was stolen from his house in Kuala Lumpur and it is believed to be linked to him representing controversial private investigator P Balasubramaniam in the Altantuya case.
This two incidents portrays the blatant consequences which can be faced by any citizen who goes against the State or the establishment. We come to a juncture when we cannot trust any executive arm to behold the justice and protect the powerless. There is no more credible independent institution for the rakyat to turn to for justice or protection.
The Parliament has yet to pass a bill which will protect the powerless nor established any institution which is really independent and credible. With the absence of these fundamental liberties, the only way forward is to change the system. Without an independent police watch, without an independent anti corruption agency, without an independent media, without an independent judiciary and without an independent election commission, there is no more democracy and human rights.
Without all these independent bodies, the only way forward is to change the system. It is time to change. It is time we mobilise the masses to protect the powerless and stop this underhand bullying of the ruling party. It is our only way forward.
